From Crawler to Toddler. May-June 2013

Playing with our friends out in the park, Silas decided to try going up the slide. 

Anything Daddy does, I can do too!

One time Silas was trying to pick up Cherrios, but they had gotten damp and dried to the floor. (Totally gross, I know) It was like the prank where you glue a quarter to the ground and watch people try to pick it up. After a few tries with the piece of cereal he said 'forget this' (in not so many words), and proceeded to put his face down to the floor to get that piece of cereal one way or another! Apparently he thought that was such an effective method of getting the food into his mouth, he repeated it in another scenario for the camera.

He's bad!

This kid loves bath time! There are many times I ask him "Are you done?" to which he replies with an adamant head shake, sometimes accompanied with a scowl. "How dare you try to get me out of the bath already". He love to "Splash, splash, splash. Splashing in the bath".

His shirt got caught on the wheel of his tipped over stroller. I couldn't help laughing at his ingenious baby trap. It's not that bad that I took several pictures before freeing him from his bonds, is it? :) 

Much thanks to our friends for watching Silas, Chet and I were able to make it to the temple together for a change.

DMZ, Herb Island, and Squeaks

One of the first fun touristy things we did here in Korea was visit the DMZ (demilitarized zone). We rode a bus up to the N./S. Korean boarder.

As one friend stated: "possibly the most tense piece of concrete on earth"

 Here I am, officially on N. Korean soil. Good thing the guards are severe looking south koreans, so protect us. Yes, the sunglasses are part of the uniform.

 If you look closely, you can see a N Korean guard observing us from the steps of their building.

 Here is the "bridge of no return". This is where prisoner exchanges and defections happen.

Squeaky was too young to go to the boarder, so Chet stayed with him in the visitor's center. I came back to find that he  made fast friends with one of the cleaning ladies.

 There is a tourist attraction called Herb Island. It isn't an island, but it is a resort of sorts with massive greenhouses full of mostly herbs. With all the rosemary growing it was easily the best aromatic location we've found here. During the winter when the flowers aren't blooming they have lights
