Visiting the Garners- Boise

While Chet went off for the most grueling twelve weeks of ranger training- very little food, even less sleep, instructors "smoking" you, and all that jazz- Si and I went off to visit family and play! First stop: Boise. I love my in-laws, and this trip couldn't have been better timed. Harvest season with the Garners is seriously the best! Check it out-

This is the vineyard that Chet built.

These are the vines that grow in the vineyard that Chet built.

These are the grapes that grow on the vines that grow in the vineyard that Chet built...hehehe

We had fun harvesting tons of pears, and canning them
and drying them. Yum!!

We also had fun picking, eating, canning, eating, and snacking on peaches!

Raspberries were in abundance too. I filled my belly with these morsels at least once every day.

I had so much fun eating tons of delicious fruit and honey, that I just had to write this ode to the little guys that made it all possible:

How we love you,
Oh Garner bees.
Harvest was possible
because you pollinated the trees.
We only ask that
you don't sting our knees.
Oh yes, we love
those Garner bees!

One of the main events of the visit was spinning the honey (getting that liquid gold out of the hives so we could nosh to our hearts' content)

even the babies helped! (by putting on protective gear)

Ok, so this trip wasn't all about food. It was also about the babies!

Sophia LOVED holding "Baby Silas"

The boys

The big sisters

The kids were all awesome at doing gymnastics

and we had fun watching videos of olympic gymnastics
(why isn't rhythmic gymnastics more popular?! and, yes, speed walking is really a sport HA!)

Si loves being outside.

We got to watch the BSU game in our orange and blue.

The babies stayed with us for a few nights. Sleepover!!!

It was so fun having story time,

having a horse trot through the house,

and feeling Sophia's babydoll "kicking"!

And, of course, everyone got to hold Baby Silas.

(It is so easy to fly with a 6-9 week old, even on tiny planes, like our flight pictured here. This was taken from my seat right behind the pilot...seriously!)

Those two weeks went by way way way too fast! But more adventures were to be had...
